Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 July 2026

Millbrook Bed and Breakfast (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you enquire about or book a stay with us, how we use it, and the rights you have under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Who we are

Millbrook Bed and Breakfast, Millhouse Lane, Millhouse Green, Penistone, Sheffield, S36 9NU. For any privacy questions please contact us on 07792 105067 or at millbrookbb@gmail.com. We are the “data controller” for the personal information we hold about you.

The information we collect

  • Your name, address, telephone number and email address.
  • Booking details such as arrival and departure dates, room preferences and the number of guests.
  • Any dietary requirements, accessibility needs or other information you choose to share to help us prepare for your stay.
  • Records of our correspondence with you.
  • Payment information. Card payments are processed securely by our payment provider; we do not store your full card details.

How we collect it

We collect this information directly from you when you contact us by phone, email or through this website, and via a registration form we may ask you to complete before your arrival. We may also receive booking details from third-party booking platforms (for example TripAdvisor) if you book through them.

Why we use it and our lawful basis

  • To fulfil your booking (performance of a contract) – to reserve your room, prepare for your stay and contact you about your booking.
  • To run our business (our legitimate interests) – to keep records, respond to enquiries and improve our service.
  • To meet our legal obligations – for example, keeping accounting records.
  • Marketing – we will only send you offers or news if you have asked us to (consent). You can opt out at any time.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary – for example with our payment provider to take payment, or where we are required to by law. Any third parties we use are required to keep your information secure.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only for as long as necessary for the purposes above. Booking and correspondence records are generally kept for up to 12 months after your stay, and financial records for as long as the law requires (normally six years).

How we protect it

We take appropriate measures to keep your information secure and to prevent unauthorised access, loss or misuse.

Cookies

This website uses a small number of cookies to help it function and to embed content such as maps and videos. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details above.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
